General Web Design Questions

What is the Design Process?
  1. After purchase, you will be transferred to your design team to either start working on your website right away or to schedule a time for your design consultation.
  2. You will have a one-on-one consultation over the phone with your dedicated design team for them to learn about your business and begin working on your website.
  3. Your designer will recommend a number of website designs based on your consultation and let you choose the one best fitting your business.
  4. Your design team will create your website and incorporate your content (images and text).
  5. You will be given an opportunity to review your website and make changes.
  6. After your design team has made all of the changes you have requested and received your approval, your website design will be finalized.
How fast will my site get online?
Each site is different in terms of complexity, amount of content integration and design requests. There is no definitive timetable for completion. However, we have found that customers who speak with their design team shortly after purchasing their Do-It-For-Me package typically see their Standard Website Design go live within 10-15 business days or their Premium Custom Web Site Design completed within 30-45 days.


Content For Your Web Site

What if I have some content, like a brochure or a PowerPoint® presentation, but I don't know if it is enough or how to divide it into separate pages?
We can help you to integrate that content. If you would like to mail or fax us your brochures, please feel free to send it to us at: Attn: Do-It-For-Me Project Coordinators, Network Solutions, #1 Bronze Pt. Suite 1-C Belleville, IL 62226.

What if I have a lot of files to send you?
We suggest that you send a compressed or zip file. To do this, put all of your files in a folder on your computer. Then right click on that folder, go to "send to" and select "compressed file" or "zip". Your files will now appear as a second folder that is compressed. Upload this folder the same way that you would upload a regular file.

What types of files do you accept to upload?
.doc, .jpeg, .psd, .gif, .eps, .pdf, .pict, .png, .bmp, .tiff, .txt, .ai

Can I submit my content via fax or postal mail?

Yes, you may do either. We do recommend that you send it electronically, but if you must fax or mail it then our fax number is (618)239-6603 Attn: Do-It-For-Me Project Coordinators.

Can you just take my content from my old site?
If you currently have a site, please do your best to advise which content we should use for your new site.

I do not have any images for my company but I want some on my site. What should I do?
Our web designers have an internal stock photo gallery at their disposal with thousands of images. They are often able to find great pictures that will fit the feel of your site.

The Web Design Phase

How do I contact my designer?
Either reply to emails sent to you by the designer or call 1-800-577-3266 and ask for the name of your designer in the Do-It-For-Me Web Site Department.

How can I view my web site design as it is in progress?
We place your designs in a directory on your web server so you can view the final product before it goes live. It can be found at www.yourdomainname.com/staging/ during the final stages of the design process.

Can I add an additional page?
Yes. For Standard website design, you can add pages on your own using the included easy to use website editing tool. For a Premium website, ask your designer to add pages for a fee.

Do I review my Search Engine goals with my designer?
If you have already selected appropriate keywords for your site and alt tags for your images, you may provide these for your designer to include on your site. If you have purchased a Search Engine Visibility package with your Do-It-For-Me Web Site, you will begin this process after your site has been published. A consultation is included with your Search Engine Visibility package. During that consultation, a Search Engine Specialist will explain the process of increasing your site's ranking on the Search Engines.

When choosing a Standard design, will I have to use the image featured, or can I change it?
You can use any picture you want on your Web Design, but the image you choose will be in that particular spot, and will be that particular size on every page of the website. We also have a large database of images to utilize, and our designers can work one-on-one with you to make sure you are satisfied.


Can I have a Flash landing page / Flash intro to my site?
Flash content can be added to our Premium website design.

Can someone write my content for me?
Yes, if you do not have the time or ability to write the level of text you would like to appear on your website, we will be happy to write original content for you. You will still be able to make any changes to the text as you see fit.

Can I sell things on my site?
Yes, you can sell items, but only through PayPal. If you want a full-blown online store, which includes shopping cart software, then you're looking for one of our E-Commerce Web Design packages.

What is PayPal®?
PayPal is a way of sending and receiving money over the Internet. This is the method in which you will collect payments from your customers. For more information, visit www.paypal.com.

Will I be able to see my site on Yahoo!® or Google®?
The search engines like Yahoo! and Google must first find your site and index (review) your pages in order for you to appear. There are also many other factors that contribute to your rankings with search engines. We offer many services that will help your site gain higher ratings. Please see our search engine optimization services for more details.

Will you be entering the Meta tags and keywords?
Yes, if you provide your designer with your alt tags and keywords, they will put them on your site for you. If you are unsure how to choose these, we recommend purchasing our SEV package that includes a tutorial on how to create an appropriate strategy for Search Engine Marketing. Please see our web site promotion services for more details.

Do you provide hosting services in addition to designing web sites?
Yes, in fact, hosting is included as part of your Do-It-For-Me Standard package. If your website is being designed with our Premium Web Design service, you can add our hosting service for a low monthly price.

Website Maintenance and Updates

How easy is it to update my content?
Our ImageCafé® web site creator tool — included with Standard design services and all our hosting services—is an online tool that is user friendly and supported by our free 24/7 award-winning customer service. Update your website anytime at your convenience. For a Premium website, you can hire your designer to update your site for an hourly fee.

Can I update my Standard site using Dreamweaver, InDesign, or other WYSIWYGS?
Many people have found that it is easier to simply log-in to the Account Manager to update and make changes with the user-friendly ImageCafé® software.


Cancellation Questions

If I choose to move the Web hosting for my Do-It-For-Me Web Site, can I take my design elsewhere?
For a Premium Design, you can take your design to another hosting provider at no additional charge. In fact, with Premium Designs, you can select Network Solutions Web hosting or any other hosting provider of your choice. For a Standard Design, we have a $250 fee to convert your files and make them available to you.
