An Effective Web Site Is About More Than Graphics and Splash
Exciting graphics will help keep users interested, but in order to be truly effective a Web site must address important content issues, writes Rebecca Kopf. She says a Web site is a business' first opportunity to interact with potential customers, vendors, and media, and can continue to provide them with updates and details related to the company and its products. If too much time is spent with graphic design, the content, and therefore the ability to communicate, will suffer. In order for a Web site to accomplish its goals, Kopf says a site must establish a communications vehicle that ties into the overall corporate image of the organization, which must be polished and credible; have content that is both meaningful and relatable to the reader; and strive to make contact with customers. Content-heavy sites bore users, but an attractive appearance can only do so much for a site. The development of its content cannot be underestimated, writes Kopf.
