Find the Perfect Domain Name
Finding a good domain name can be difficult, as more than 100 million domains have already been registered, but there are steps that can help you create a memorable and unique domain name. Start by searching for any domain names that you think would be a strong fit for your Web site. It is possible that your first choice may not be registered and is available to you for the cost of registration. If your first choice has been registered either you can pay the hundreds, or sometimes thousands of dollars that domain name warehouses want for pre-registered names, or you can create your own unique, available domain name. The key to finding an available and unique name is to be creative. One word domains are already gone or extremely expensive, but by adding descriptive endings such as Group, Inc, Agency, Systems, Global, or Solutions one word domains can be expanded until an available domain is found. Simple, positive words such as Star, Mark, Point, and First can tagged onto a domain to add a non-descriptive, but positive spin on a simple domain. The best strategy, however, is to create a longer, unique phrase that will be easily remembered. An excellent example of this is the jewelry company with the domain SeaofDiamonds.com. The domain directly relates to the industry, but is long, unique, and memorable. Inventing a name, like Xerox and Kodak, is a guaranteed way to find an available domain as well. When creating a new name, try to use familiar parts of speech that will create a sense of felling or emotion that will become attached to the brand. Always make sure to register the .com extension of the domain, as it is easier for customers to remember.
